Compartment Pressure Testing
What is it?
Measurement of pressure in the leg via insertion of small catheter in leg immediately after exercise
What conditions does it treat?
It is used to identify if chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECS) is the cause of exercise induced leg pain
How does it work?
The patient is asked to recreate the exercise that causes the pain. The catheter is then inserted into the part of the leg that is suspected to have CECS and pressure of the compartment is measured. If significantly higher than normal then CECS may be identified as the cause of exercise induced leg pain
How long does it take to work?
The procedure takes between 5 to 10 minutes.
When can I return to work after the procedure?
